ABOUT Unisys Financial Services System

The Unisys Financial Services System (UFSS) is a portfolio of applications that support all aspects of mortgage management from initial sales enquiry, through application processing, mortgage administration, redemptions, arrears management and also includes a savings module to attract deposits to support mortgage lending and is been used by major UK and Global banks includes Loyds Banking Group, Bradford and Bingley, Cheltenham and Gloucester, West Bromwich Building Society, Northern Rock, and Alliance and Leicester.

APPROACH

I was hired to anlyse the user experience of existing UFSS application and plan the redesign with the objective of increasing overall user experience and users productivity and also create a Design Style Guide for UFSS designers and developers to be used as a guidelines to produce usable and intuitive interfaces which maintains Unisys UI standards and consistency.

Since there were no specific design standards in place, existing user interface were not consistent in design and was adversely affecting the users productivity due to the inconsistency in presenting information which forcing users spent more time in learning the system as well as completing business critical tasks.

The project demanded an extremely tight turn-around with unmovable deadlines. As a User Experience Designer I have analysed the existing application via user testing and interviewing and stake holder interviews and Heuristic evaluations.

Tasks involved were Heuristics evaluation, usability testing and evaluation of existing product and User interviews. I have followed the User Centered Design process and run various brainstorming sessions to formulate the design requirements and conducted research includes competitor analysis and produce initial drafts of my recommendations.

Which were welcomed with highly positive feedback from business stake holders and highly helped developing strategy and persuade top management to approve implementing changes and provide required funding for the project for proposed improvements based on recommendations, by developing Information Architecture, Improved usability and user tasks flows.

Work closely with team composed of end users, marketing, design and development team and conducted various sprint sessions around the tasks to discover even smaller details of the functional elements.
